GunZ PvP — Duel & Team Deathmatch Guide
PvP is what made GunZ famous. Whether it's a 1v1 duel or a 4v4 team deathmatch, the core loop is the same: dash, wall-run, swap weapons mid-air, land shots and slashes, and out-play your opponent. This guide walks through every PvP mode on RealGunz, plus fundamentals every duelist needs to know.
Game modes
Duel — 1v1
The purest test of skill. Best of N rounds, single life per round, no respawns. Duel is where K-Style shines and where the top players build their reputation.
Team Deathmatch — 4v4
Two teams, shared kill count, first team to N kills wins. Map awareness and target focus matter more than raw K-Style.
Deathmatch (FFA)
Free-for-all in an open lobby. Chaotic and fun; a great warm-up mode.
Gladiator
Melee-only. Sword and dagger duels with no firearms allowed. Slash combos and pivot cancels win here.
Assassinate
Each team has a VIP. Kill the enemy VIP to win the round. Rewards coordination and target priority.
Fundamentals
1. Dash → shoot → melee → repeat
The GunZ combat rhythm is a three-beat: dash to close, shoot to interrupt, slash to finish. Practise the timing until it's muscle memory.
2. Weapon swap on the beat
Swapping weapons cancels animation frames. Fire a shotgun, swap to Kodachi mid-animation, slash instantly. The K-Style guide breaks down every cancel.
3. Never stand still
A stationary GunZ player is a dead GunZ player. Constantly dash, wall-run, or reposition. Wallhackers only kill players who stop moving.
4. Aim slightly high
GunZ hitboxes favour headshots — aim at the neckline, not the chest.
Weapon loadouts by mode
| Mode | Recommended loadout |
|---|---|
| Duel | Kodachi + shotgun + revolver |
| TDM | Kodachi + rifle + pistol |
| Deathmatch | Kodachi + rocket + shotgun |
| Gladiator | Kodachi + dagger (no firearms) |
| Assassinate | Rifle + shotgun + smoke grenade |
Rankings & seasons
RealGunz tracks PvP performance through several ladders:
- Killer Rankings — most PvP kills all-time.
- Level Rankings — highest characters.
- Guild Rankings — clan warfare.
- Enter Arena — the seasonal clan PvP event. See the Events guide.
Spawn control & positioning
In TDM, controlling spawn zones is worth 10 kills. Push the enemy off their spawn, watch the exit corridors, and rotate before they respawn. The Maps Guide lists spawn positions for every arena.
Practice routine
- Warm-up: 5 minutes in Deathmatch, focus on hitting shots without K-Style.
- K-Style drills: 10 minutes in a private room practising butterfly + half-step + slash-shot.
- Duels: 5 rounds of ranked duels focusing on one thing per round (aim / movement / weapon-swap timing).
- Review: watch a top-tier player's stream on Twitch (@realgunztv) and copy one thing.
PvP mastery in GunZ is a years-long journey. Enjoy the climb.
